Ashton’s passion for child and family advocacy is rooted in a sincere belief that healthy and happy families are integral to a community’s wellbeing. This passion drove Ashton to focus the mission of her law practice on serving children and helping to build families in her community. Because Ashton devotes 100% of her law practice to adoption and child welfare, you can trust that your family’s case is her priority.
Adoption is a complex area of law that demands diligent and thorough representation, but it also requires an understanding of the unique family dynamics involved in a child’s adoption journey. Ashton is dedicated to serving birth parents, adoptive families, and foster parents with compassionate legal representation. Ashton trains regularly with experts in adoption and child welfare, which uniquely informs her practice approach. Ultimately, she understands what is at stake for families and that she is helping to write a child’s life story.
Ashton calls Tennessee home, along with her Murfreesboro native husband, John, and their two children, Harrison and Vivian. She is a devoted volunteer, and values serving her community. She grew up traveling the world as a military child, and then proudly served as a military family advocate during her husband’s service in the U.S. Army. She received several awards and honors for her military family advocacy work, including the Yellow Rose of Texas from Governor Rick Perry.
Ashton studied and obtained her undergraduate degree abroad in the United Kingdom, where she received a Bachelor of Arts with honors from the University of Gloucestershire in 2007. She attended law school at Faulkner University, located in Montgomery, Alabama, where she obtained a Juris Doctorate with honors and a certification in Alternative Dispute Resolution in 2011. She was also a Regional Finalist in the American Bar Association’s 2011 Representation in Mediation Competition, a 2010 Public Interest Fellow, and awarded several CALI awards for highest grades in her Legal Drafting, Interviewing & Negotiation, and Family Law classes. Ashton has been a licensed member of the Tennessee State Bar since 2011, and is currently a member of the Rutherford/Cannon County Bar Association, Middle Tennessee Lawyer’s Association for Women, a member of the Tennessee Bar Association’s Adoption Committee, and the Military Spouse J.D. Network.
